Permanent Collection Archives and Rare Books

Permanent Collection Archives and Rare Books
Archival materials and rare books support the Permanent Collection. In particular, the holdings relate to the development and bequest of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur G. Cummer’s home, grounds, and collection as well as their artistic, horticultural, and philanthropic activities and interests. A portion of the Cummers’ personal library forms the basis of the institution’s current research library holdings. Archival material also supports the Museum’s special collections. Manuscripts, books, printed matter, ephemera, and personal memorabilia support the Charvot collection. Manuscripts, printed matter, audio and videotapes, photographs, and slides support the Dodge collection. The Wark collection includes rare periodicals and auction catalogs as well as manuscript notes developed and compiled by the donor about the collection. The Savage collection includes negatives, black-and-white photographs, color postcards, black-and-white postcards, and sketches.

Please note, not all works from the Permanent Collection are on display at any given time. Please call 904.356.6857 in advance of your visit if you are looking for something in particular.
