The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens Announces George W. and Kathleen I. Gibbs Director and CEO

The Board of Trustees of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens announces it has appointed Kimberly “Kim” Noble, MBA, CFM to be the museum’s new George W. and Kathleen I. Gibbs Director and Chief Executive Officer. Noble has been serving as the Cummer Museum’s interim director and CEO since May 2025. She was officially appointed to the position by the board after an analysis of her successful performance leading the museum as interim.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens Announces an Important Gift from the Estate of Helen M. and Edward W. Lane, Jr.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is honored to announce the gift of 18 works of art from the estate of longtime museum supporters and community philanthropists Helen M. and Edward W. Lane, Jr. The works will be on display in a dedicated installation from August 15, 2025 – January 11, 2026 before being incorporated into other collection galleries, enhancing the museum’s renowned collection of more than 5,000 objects from ancient Egypt through the present day.

The Cummer Museum of Arts & Gardens Announces Andrea Barnwell Brownlee’s Retirement

The Board of Trustees of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens announced today that it has accepted the retirement notice submitted by Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, PhD, the George W. and Kathleen I. Gibbs Director and CEO. Her retirement will be effective May 1, 2025. The Cummer Museum’s current chief financial officer, Kimberly Noble, MBA, CFM will serve as interim director and CEO while a national search is conducted for a permanent successor.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens invites the community to gather in celebration of the impactful life, work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a day of free admission, creativity and dynamic programming. Sponsored by The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida’s Presidential Grants Program, events and activities will be presented throughout the day.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens announced today the appointment of three new members to its staff: Amy Pierce as Chief Development Officer, Mary Mantey as the Doolittle Family Director of Gardens & Horticulture, and Brianna Sharpe as the Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole Associate Curator, a position named in honor of the Jacksonville native and internationally renowned educator, scholar and transformational leader.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition afforded to the nation’s museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies and to the museum-going public. The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens has been accredited since 1975.
