Culture and Conversation: The Invincible Garden Ladies

January 14, 2021
7 to 8 P.M.

You’re invited to Zoom in virtually for a FREE lecture by Abra Lee, renowned horticulturist and founder of Conquer the Soil and BIPOC Working Hort Group. From the ordinary to the extraordinary, Black women have made their mark on American horticultural history. In this conversation, Lee will discuss how these women used plants as their love language to express pride in community and self. Stories of Black women from garden clubs to those who were professionals in the horticulture field during the lifetime of Ninah Cummer will be included in the discussion.

This lecture is presented as part of the Museum's series, Culture and Conversation, which cultivates meaningful dialogue with diverse audiences and connects people to the arts, gardens, and each other. Generously sponsored by Joan and Jim Van Vleck.
