Beyond the Frame was inspired by Seward Johnson’s love of nature and his admiration for the French Impressionists and Post Impressionists. He took some of his favorite paintings, then transformed them into immersive three-dimensional experiences situated in the natural landscape. Johnson wanted his viewers to experience the power of art within nature, inviting the viewer to step inside of the painting, hence Beyond the Frame.
