Gift of Jody Protovin

Artist and film maker Richard Protovin founded the animation department at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. In 1988, he moved to Florida’s Gulf Coast to work as professor of animation production and cinema studies at the University of Tampa. Protovin described abstract painting as “creating a new order from chaos… like another language… the paintings come from light and memories and discoveries… the strokes, choice of colors, the size – all have to do with some sort of defense and embrace.”[4]
