Lecture with Diane Jacobsen, Ph.D. – An American Made Collector’s Story
June 20, 2023
7 to 8 P.M.
Join us for a captivating lecture with Diane DeMell Jacobsen, PhD, a preeminent collector of American art whose collection is featured in American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection. Dr. Jacobsen credits her love of art to childhood visits to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art with her mother and two sisters. Today, the DeMell Jacobsen Collection numbers more than 200 paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and decorative arts objects that span all aspects of American artistic production. She has made an indelible impact through graciously lending her works to more than 40 museums, like the Cummer Museum and even her childhood inspiration, The Met. “I collect art and share it with the broader community because I value art, and my hope is that by showing others, they will appreciate it too,” says Dr. Jacobsen. Dr. Jacobsen will share her extensive knowledge, passion, and fascination for American art that has spanned her lifetime.
